The left hand side of the home page offers you three main search routes:
- The Search for Music box. Type anything you like here. It’s predictive.
Searchwords tips: Try putting in a single word or strings of words – for instance fast exciting orchestral or optimistic indie rock.
- The Advanced Search button is below the Search for Music box.
Here you can add any combination of parameters including categories, metre, tempo (BPM), key and duration to help you get right to the tracks you need.
- Below this, Browse by Category searching allows you progressively to fine-tune your search by drilling down through different levels to find the tracks you want.
- Genre: Comedy to romantic, children to sport. Each genre also has a selection of sub-genres.
- Popular Styles: The most popular styles and moods. A good place to start.
- Ambient/Textural: For when you need sound design and atmospheric tracks.
- Mood/Atmosphere: This is all about the FEEL of the track: sad, happy, panoramic etc.
- Instrumentation: Search by featured/solo instrument, voice, percussion and orchestral.
- CD Listing: If you want all the tracks from one CD, they’re all here.
- Composer: Find all tracks by each composer on this button.
Managing your search results
You can navigate by clicking on the file path directly above the track listing in the white space. You can sort your search results by A-Z or most recent by clicking on the top left of the search results box.
If you generate too many tracks you can refine your search by clicking on the button at the top of the screen. This takes you to the Advanced Search page (see 2, above).
